Parker-Gutiérrez 92 Punkte: The "A" is for the Andes, and the 2016 Edición Limitada A is an unusual blend of 60% Malbec and 40% Carmenère that was fermented mostly in stainless steel, with 9% of the volume fermented in used barriques. It matured for 12 months in French oak barrels, 35% of them new. The élevage was shorter and the amount of new barrels lower than in the previous year, and that—together with the cooler year—helped to obtain a fresher and more harmonious wine. This is a blend that I have found more often, and this was probably the first in Chile, even if it was in a much riper style then compared to what it is now. The two grapes seem to work well together, the same way that Malbec with Cabernet Franc seem to work very well in Argentina. This is a blend that is quite representative of the character of the wines from Colchagua, with the Carmenère adding some structure to the Malbec. 24,000 bottles were filled in January 2018.
James Suckling 92 Punkte: The black pepper and clove character on this nose if prevalent. Blueberry, too. Full body, juicy and layered. A blend of 60% malbec and 40% carmenere. Drink now.
