Base 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc is mostly Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Clairette also includes a splash of Bourboulenc brought up in demi-lead and barrels. This light gold hued white has a clean, crisp bouquet of honeyed citrus, white, currants, white flowers, and a touch of toasted spice to go with a beautifully balanced meeting bodied, cleaning, vibrant style on the palate. This is another classy white from the 2019 vintage that can be drunk today or cellared for a good decade or more.

Subtle scents of pencil shavings and toasted almonds accent lime and tangerine notes on the nose of La Nerthe's 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc. A blend of 40% Grenache Blanc, 34% Roussanne, 20% Clairette and 6% Bourboulenc, with the Roussanne made in barrels (one-third new), it's a medium to full-bodied, generous wine that has enough structure to keep it refreshing on the long, citrusy finish.
The Richaud family, owners of this famous estate, also own Domaine de la Renjarde, in the area of Massif d'Uchaux, to the north. Although I've listed that wine under its historic property name, on retail shelves and wine lists that wine will appear as a Côtes du Rhône Villages "Les Cassagnes" under the La Nerthe (no "chateau") label. Readers looking for a high-quality wine at a reasonable price should check it out.
